The history of Domaine Roc de l'Abbaye begins in the 15th century with the Abbey of Saint-Satur, which founded the Clos du Roc vineyard on flint (silex) soil. The Mollet family has been involved in winemaking in the region since the 18th century.
Whilst the wine initially gives off subtle Sauvignon Blanc grassy aromas, these swiftly fall away to be replaced by light gooseberry and lemon notes and a distinctive flinty minerality. An initial acidic brightness softens to a silky smooth texture. Classic gooseberry, apple and citrus flavours combine with peach and lychees; a long flavoursome, lemony finish with hints of white flowers. This wine has a bit of volume from being left on its lees and is beautifully crisp and light.
