Gabriëlskloof was founded in 2001 by Bernhard Heyns, who bought the land near Bot River when it was used for wheat and sheep. Under his son-in-law Peter-Allan Finlayson, who became winemaker in 2015 and is now Cellar Master, the estate shifted to a precise and innovative winemaking philosophy focused on indigenous yeast and whole-bunch ferments. The estate, now encompassing over 60 hectares of vines, has received acclaim, including being named a "First Growth" by Tim Atkin in 2023 and 2024.
This is a classic Sauvignon Blanc with bright aromas of lime zest, passion fruit and flint on the nose. The palate is light bodied and well balanced with refreshing acidity and citrus notes on the finish. A fantastic alternative for New Zealand!
