Willunga 100 was founded in 2005 by David Gleave MW and John Ratcliffe, who aimed to showcase Grenache from the McLaren Vale region. The name "Willunga 100" is a nod to the historical division of the region into "hundreds," or 100-acre plots, which was an old English measurement used for administrative divisions in colonial South Australia. The winery has since focused on producing balanced and concentrated wines, particularly from old-vine Grenache, and has helped to champion the grape's potential in McLaren Vale.
This gorgeous wine has aromas of ripe pear, apple, lychee and lemon, with delicate hints of white flowers and exotic spice. On the palate, flavours of stone fruit and honeysuckle are balanced by fennel, spice and hints of almond. It is a textural wine with a refreshing line of zesty acidity.
